Com4AgriPlant: a EU funded Initiative to Empower Educators and Consumers in Embracing  Sustainable Plant-Based Choices

Com4Agriplant- 3rd Press release

Imagine a world where agriculture doesn’t just feed us but also helps heal the planet.

Com4AgriPlant is a European initiative making that future a reality, bringing together six partners from Slovenia, Spain, Lithuania, Greece and Italy, financed by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Commission. At its core, Com4AgriPlant is designed to spark a transformation in how we produce and consume food, shifting the focus towards sustainable plant-based agriculture.

The world is realising the environmental costs of animal farming, from greenhouse gas emissions to biodiversity loss. At the same time, plant-based diets are on the rise. With growing concerns about food security, public health, animal wellbeing, and climate change, plant-based agriculture has become more than just a trend. It’s a solution.

But to achieve this shift, we need more than awareness — we need education. Com4AgriPlant tackles this by filling the gaps in sustainability knowledge among educators, consultants and lecturers and empowering farmers, producers, and consumers to make greener choices in their everyday life.

Project Journey: From Vision to Action

Com4AgriPlant has transformed the needs and challenges, identified in its 2023 research on promotional strategies and lifelong learning opportunities for plantbased consumption and production, into a complete set of educator‑focused tools.

These include a carefully crafted Learning Methodology, a bespoke Comics collection, and a versatile Toolkit packed with engaging content and a project‑specific glossary. Each resource has been designed to help adult educators, counsellors, and lecturers create and deliver meaningful training on plant‑based agriculture and consumption, adapted to their learners and local context needs.

All materials — such as the free, downloadable Trainers’ Handbook, editable PowerPoint presentations, and 13 flexible session outlines — have been transformed into the interactive Com4AgriPlant elearning platform, a go-to space for exploring everything related to plant-based agriculture and consumption — independently and at each student’s own pace.

With multilingual support in English, Slovene, Lithuanian, Italian, Greek, and Spanish, the platform ensures that educators, producers, consumers, and anyone curious about plant‑based topics can easily access everything they need, from the comics guided discussion, to engaging learning activities, to interactive evaluation quizzes.

Backed by rigorous, expert‑led testing through focus groups and pilot activities, and enriched by cross‑border meetings and study visits in Slovenia, Spain, Greece, Italy and Lithuania, Com4AgriPlant resources reflect shared best practices and continuous efforts to offer innovative educational materials that help bringing plant-based diets and sustainable agriculture closer to all EU citizens.

Why Are We Doing This?

Because it matters for our communities and our planet. Com4AgriPlant focuses on more than just changing diets — it encourages a gentler way of working with the land. By supporting plant‑based farming, we help build a food system that uses fewer resources, supports wildlife, and lowers greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, we equip educators, producers, and consumers with practical knowledge that can lead to healthier and more resilient local communities.

We hope to see sustainable farming become commonplace and plant‑based diets appreciated not only for their nutritional value but also for their environmental benefits. Instead of trying to change the entire agri‑food sector overnight, Com4AgriPlant offers tools and strategies that can be adopted step by step, helping everyone take small, meaningful steps toward a more balanced and responsible way of producing and enjoying food.

Join us in exploring approaches to growing and eating that care for the world we share.
